The Nashville Gourmet

boxes would appear to be multiplying ... seems as one is unpacked twelve more appear as if from nowhere ... judging by kitchen boxes and contents would seem self is a gourmet chef or at least a caterer but, alas, as anyone who knows me is aware self is NOT a cook. so where did all these gadgets come from?? unpacking boxes after moving is some sort of unwanted version of Christmas morning ... each box contains lots of surprises but not always good ones!! for example, why is self in possession of three very different napkin holders?? have never seen two of them in my life ...
continue to be inspired by Olympics ... inspired to do what I'm not sure but inspired nonetheless ...

Baby, It's Cold Outside

greetings from snowy Nashville ... got moved on Thursday with no problems, just unpacking boxes now ... has snowed today and is really beautiful!! have met several neighbors, and all is very well here ...
dietician appt. went fine ... gestational diabetes numbers are so borderline that all that's required is a slight variation in what I eat ... nonetheless, just for fun, have new machine and will have to prick finger to check sugar levels 4 times each day. lovely. will be like B.B. King ...

Packing Day

ah, Olympic season is upon us ... very sad that Michelle Kwan had to drop out but respect her decision ... now interested in exactly what curling is?? plan to find out as is on right now ...
packing day is also upon us ... things have been a little hectic but manageable lately ... packers are here now, and movers will be here tomorrow ... so far all is going according to plan ... have spent a couple of days pulling out things we'll need for the next two nights so those items don't get packed ... learned that lesson during the move from Pensacola. (anyone seen my cereal, make-up, hair dryer, etc? oh, is packed in a box on a truck somewhere ...) have dryer, etc. in special "do not pack" area ...
ok, now about rascal scooters ... first, DO NOT mean this to be offensive AT ALL ...merely following train of thought regarding previously discussed super strong hand dryer and fact that some things have TOO much power ... believe rascal scooters at Wal-Mart, etc. are excellent way for some people to get around; however, when aforementioned scooter is barrelling down the produce aisle at top speed is just downright scary!! feel perhaps these machines have too much power ...
appt. with dietician is tomorrow afternoon ... in meantime Annie continues to grow and kick, tumble, and whatever else she's doing in there ... 9 more weeks ...

Annie and Nashville

apologize again for lack of blogging ...
am now 30 weeks pregnant and had dr's appt. today ... all is well with Annie ... strong heartbeat, good growing (sounds like flowers) and good weight gain on my part ... as for the glucose tolerance test, I don't have diabetes, but I had one number that was elevated, so they want to follow that for the rest of the pregnancy... have an appt. next week with dietician but in meantime told to eat more green veggies and more meat ... sigh as not huge fan of meat in general.
ok, now for moving logistics ... we will close on our house here on Feb. 15th and close on our house in Nashville on Feb. 16th ... packers will be here Monday the 13th, and the movers will follow them on the 14th ... we'll be in Nashville permanently on the 16th!! I already have an OB in the area along with an appt. in two weeks so I won't miss any appts. I'll be a bachelorette for about three weeks as Anthony will continue to work for the American Cancer Society until March 15 ...
more details to follow along with a blog about Rascal scooters ...

The Xelerator

baby shower was such fun!! Annie (spoiled beyond belief even though she's not born) got some wonderful gifts and shower was absolutely perfect ...
am now 29 weeks pregnant and feeling it a little bit ... Annie is now small person moving around, which is not always comfortable ... still miraculous but sometimes in a "could you please be still so I can go to sleep?" way ... due to ever so slightly elevated numbers in my gestational diabetes test last week, had to go to hospital lab yesterday for 3-hour glucose tolerance test ... had to fast after midnight, arrive at hospital, have blood drawn, drink VERY sweet cola drink, have blood drawn again one hour later, then two more times in two hours. not the most fun thing ever but certainly not the worst!! will have results next week at dr's appt ...
forgot to mention interesting incident that occurred on trip to Columbus on Friday ... my aunt rode up with me, and of course we had to stop several times for bathroom breaks ... at one gas station, bathroom had hand drier called the xelerator (be afraid) ... while in stall heard frighteningly loud roar that sounded as if a tornado had descended on the restrooms ... could hardly finish bathroom business as waited for ceiling to cave in around me ...turns out roar was actually dangerously powerful hand drier ... have never seen such in all my life ... drier actually shifted skin and veins around on hand as air shot out. very scary ... beware, travelers.
